Munich's Alte Pinakothek houses a rich collection of paintings from the fourteenth to the eighteenth century. Founded by Duke Wilhem IV of Bavaria in the sixteenth century, the collection is now housed in a neo-classical building built under the auspices of King Ludwig I.
