Archaeobiodiversity. A European perspective, 2011, 196 p. -

The volume begins with an index of past publications and a preview of planned volumes of the series. An index of authors is followed by six scientific articles. The book ends with instructions for authors. The papers deal with population genetics of the European Neolithic and the role of adult lactase persistence [Burger], with isotopic analyses of vertebrate bones of the Viking Period and the Middle Ages with regard to the biodiversity of the archaeological fauna in the estuarine palaeoecosystem of the Schlei fjord in Northern Germany [Doppler et al.], with the distribution history of European wild birds on the basis of archaeozoological records as a contribution to human-bird relationships in the past [von den Driesch, Pöllath], with fluorescence of bone cross sections as a screening tool for bones preceding archaeometric analyses [Hoke et al.], with the faunal remains from the Middle Imperial amphitheatre at the Roman military base of Quintana/Künzing in Lower Bavaria [Pöllath] as well as with the Alexander Ecker Collection of human skulls at Freiburg and its scientific value despite considerable losses of information in the course of time [Kästner et al.].
