Totengedenken bei den Nabatäern und im Alten Testamen. Eine religionsgeschichtliche und exegetische Studie, (AOAT 311), 2005, 556 p. -
D. Kühn examines the commemoration of the dead within the Nabataean kingdom and the Old Testament from historical, philological, and archaeological points of view. Special emphasis is given to the word nps^/nfs within Northwest Semitic languages and Nabataean inscriptions in particular. D. Kuehn's travels throughout Jordan to examine the rock reliefs commemorating the dead (nps^ monuments) have resulted in a detailed and up-to-date catalogue of these monuments including 70 photographs taken by her. The third part of her study considers those passages of the Old Testament which bear witness of burial customs, commemoration of the dead, the marzeah banquet, and the royal ancester cult.
