Watching one's tongue: aspects of Romance and Celtic languages, 1997, br. -

Examining the languages of Spain and the British Isles in a variety of contexts, this is the second of two volumes which deal with language planning in contemporary Europe. It starts with chapters evaluating the impact of Franco's dictatorship on regional tongues and appraising the current circumstances and future prospects of specific Romance languages, and goes on to discuss the Celtic tongues in the British Isles. The contributors address contemporary language strategies and future policy options, and also consider the survival and revival of indigenous languages in Britain and Ireland. The book's final section offers an insight into Manx Gaelic and, in particular, assesses its impact on Anglo-Manx.
