This volume comprises 29 contributions covering a span of time from the Neolithic to Modern Times and a region from Spain to Poland and southern Germany to Scandinavia with an emphasis on the Early Middle Ages in southern Germany. The articles are divided into the aspects of "settlement history" (7 contributions), "social history" (6 contributions), "economic and monetary history" (6 contributions), "cultural history" (8 contributions), and "history and perspectives in archaeology" (2 contributions).
