Orpheus is the focus of this study on 8 Classical-period mosaics. The examination of the iconography of Orpheus in both mythological and Christian traditions demonstrates the transition of the Orpheus theme from paganism to Christianity and the cultural and religious blending that occurred within the boundaries of the late Roman empire.
